Abstract
The study entitled CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF TEACHERS TOWARDS AN IMPROVED ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF LEARNERS aimed to assess the classroom management skills of teachers and the academic performance of learners from Grade One up to Grade Six in Cielito Zamora Memorial School, Caloocan City during school year 2018- 2019. This study was limited to the teacher-respondents comprising five Grade- one teachers, five Grade- two teachers, five Grade- three teachers, five Grade- four teachers, five Grade- five teachers and five Grade- six teachers, with the total of thirty teacher-respondents, the researcher used questionnaire to collect data that will commence on the month of January 2019. Having proper classroom management techniques and practices, effective learning can be acquired by the students. Teachers should have great perception about classroom management skills towards positive classroom management. To become effective teacher, one should be a good classroom manager. One should equipped with a repertoire of management skills which empower to be dimensional in maximizing learning of student by facilitating effective instruction that promotes students welfare. It is also anchored on positive relationship of teachers and student's by being vigilant or having knowledge and skills relating to them. As a teacher, the researcher aimed to propose an enhancement program to alleviate the challenges encountered by teachers in classroom management. The following are the findings: The Level of Teacher's in Classroom Management. This study found that the assessment on teachers- respondents shows that level of teacher's in classroom management in skills in Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) has a mean score of 3.88 and rated as "Very Satisfactory". Academic performance of the learners in the last three grading. This presents the first grading grades of learners with the mean score of 79.03 or developing. Followed by second grading grades of learners with the mean score of 80.20 or approaching proficiency and the third grading grades has the mean score of 82.08 or approaching proficiency. It reveals that most of the learners improved their academic performance from the first grading to third grading. Test for Significant Relationships between the Academic Performance of Learners and Level of Teachers in Classroom Management in Skills. The relationship between the academic performance of learners and level of teacher's in classroom management reveals a strong relationship as signified by the result of Pearson correlation. This implies that there is a significant relationship between the Academic Performance of Learners and level of Teacher's in classroom management in skills. Challenges encountered by the teacher in classroom management. The rank is classroom discipline with a weighted mean of 3.63 in the scale or problems encountered by the teacher in classroom management. First in most challenging. Second is the support system for the teacher that has 3.40 in the weighted mean in the scale or most challenging. And the last in rank, rank eight is unconducive learning environment with the weighted mean of 2.90 in interpreted as challenging. However, all the above indicators are rated as "most challenging and "challenging" in terms of adjectival rating. Based on the findings and result of the study, the following conclusions were formulated: The level of teacher's in classroom management in skills in terms of their overall rating in Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) are generally rated as "Very Satisfactory" as stated in adjectival The academic performance of the learners in the three grading The relationship between the academic performance of learners and level of teacher's in classroom management in skills reveals a strong relationship as signified by the result of Pearson correlation. The academic performance of learners is proportional with the classroom management skills of teachers, which means that the higher the classroom management skills of the teacher the higher the academic performance of learners.
