Canteen Management Selected Elementary Schools In Caloocan North 1: Basis For Monitoring And Evaluation Checklist

Abstract
This study determined the proper canteen management basically the public elementary schools in North 1 Caloocan City as bases for monitoring and evaluation checklist.
More specifically, it answered the following questions: how do the respondents' asses the general provisions on canteen operations; Is there a significant difference in extent of compliance of the school respondents in compliance on the said policy in the canteen management; how may the findings of this study be utilized as basis for proposing, monitoring and evaluation checklist. The researcher used questionnaire-checklist as an instrument for this study. The questionnaire was constructed and formally distributed by the researcher. The survey questionnaire was given to 9 Canteen managers. The introductory section includes basic questions used to identify the demographic profiles of the respondents. The second part of the questionnaire is about the extent of implementation in terms of Deped Order on Canteen management. The third section is about the challenges encountered in Compliance on the said policy in the canteen management. Respondents will indicate their most appropriate rating for each item. The researcher also conducted an interview to the respondents to gather some data and information that is relevant to the study regarding the significant difference in the extent of compliance on the above mentioned variables.
Across eight schools in Caloocan North, as revealed, the computed value of 12.210 is greater than the tabulated value of 2.246. Consequently, the p-value is less than the 0.05 level of significance. This means that the null hypothesis was rejected and concludes that there is a significant difference in the respondents' assessment in the management of school canteens across schools. However, the data in table 1 revealed moderately observe overall interpretation.
The study further showed that the findings of the study may be used in the monitoring and evaluation by consistency checking if the indicators of the study is being followed. It is suggested that the checklist used in the study particularly the indicators shall be used to monitor and check whether the policy in canteen management is being followed.
Based on the assessment, the management of school canteens in Caloocan North showed the highest rank was "Teachers and canteen personnel are required to secure clearance from money and property accountabilities in relation to their involvement in the operation and management of the school canteen before they are allowed to retire and/or resign from government service, or transfer to other posts for purposes of re-assignment or promotion to a higher position" with a mean of 3.71 and is interpreted as highly observed. On the other hand, the lowest in ranks is "The school head/principal prepare an Annual Budget to be submitted to and approved by the Schools Division Superintendent or his/her representative at the start of every school year" with a mean of 2.71 and is interpreted as moderately observed. The overall mean is 3.37 and is interpreted as moderately observed. This means that the school canteen managers are compliance with the minimum requirements set by the Department of Education in managing school canteens.
