Abstract
Disaster may occur in every corner of the world on different time throughout the year. These calamities are often unexpected by their very nature that's why it is essential to put so much effort in the planning and the preparation long before the disaster strikes. Disaster awareness and preparedness is necessary to reduce the severity of disaster effects. Preventive measures should be observed to lessen the impact of disaster on vulnerable population, to ready an organization. Disaster awareness and preparedness is necessary to reduce the severity of disaster effects. Preventive measures should be observed to lessen the impact of disaster on vulnerable population, to ready an organization.4-Likert scale type of questionnaire. The data were computed by means of weighted mean, ranking, spearman rho, and Pearson r The findings of the study have revealed that the two groups of respondents are generally aware based on the identified indicator for the Level of awareness and prepared in terms of the identified indicators for the level of preparedness. Moreover, the relationship of the level of awareness and preparedness of the two groups of respondents were interpreted to have a very high correlation. This means that being aware will relatively results to being prepared in times of disaster. Thus, there is no significant difference on the assessment of two groups of respondents in terms of awareness and preparedness. Furthermore, the study found that a need of capacity building training program should be developed to improve the knowledge that the respondents In collaboration of the school and parents or even stakeholders, being aware and prepared can fight growth losses of life and damage to property. this will also be the simplest yet helpful way to be resilient in times of disaster. Each of the respondents will play a vital role in addressing the problems in disaster management especially in relation to preparedness, adaptation and mitigation.
