This study looked into the readiness on implementation of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of selected secondary schools in Caloocan as basis for a proposed action plan. In particular, it assessed the profile of the participating schools in terms of number of students, teaching staff, available facilities and equipment and the qualification of the library staff. It also assessed the readiness on implementation of OPAC in terms of cataloguing, classification, facilities and equipments. It measured the significant difference on the readiness of implementing OPAC among different participating schoolswhere profile is considered. It also assessed the challenges encountered by the participating schools on the readiness of the implementation of OPAC.

This study utilized the descriptive method to examine the readiness of the implementation of OPAC The information in this particular study was obtained from 20 teacher-librarians from20 secondary schools in Caloocan North District namely Amparo, Caloocan City Business, Caloocan National Science and Technology, Camarin, Cielito Zamora Junior, Horacio Dela Costa, Bagong Silang, Benigno Aquino Junior, Kalayaan National, Manuel Luis Quezon, Mountain Heights, NHC. Pangarap, Tala, Bagumbong. Bagumbong Annex, Caybiga, Deparo, Llano and Sampaguita.

The survey used a purposive sampling to determine a reliable representation of the teacher-librarians or assistant teacher-librarians.

Based on the set measure of readiness, generally, the secondary schools in Caloocan are not ready for the full implementation of OPAC. The findings revealed that most schools does not compensate with the number of chairs in the library, same with the equipment availability, less number of computer in the library and no internet access. However, cataloguing, classification of books and reading resources are highly implemented.

It is suggested that schools must make a necessary actionfor these scarcity in preparation for the full implementation of OPAC. Necessary equipments like computer and internet access must be provided. The school librarians need to seek support from the School Head and from different sectors outside in order to support the implementation of OPAC. The study proposed an action plan that recommends seminars, workshops and trainings for teacher-librarians to comply for full implementation of OPAC in Caloocan.
