Abstract
The thesis is entitled "Utilization of Cell Phone Towards Improved Learning Engagement". The purpose of this study is to determine the connection of utilization of cellphone towards improved learning engagement of the grade ten students of Caybiga High School. The researcher used descriptive design using purposive sampling. The researcher prepared and administered the survey questionnaire. The survey questionnaire was validated by the Filipino Coordinator, Master Teacher and the Research Chairman of our school. There were hundred fifty (150) grade ten students and twenty four (24) grade ten teachers who answered the survey questionnaire. The content of the questionnaire are the learning activities where cell phone had been utilized in the learning engagement in terms of participation and behavior, the challenges encountered while utilizing cell phone can be utilized as a basis on the learning exemplar. Based on the results gathered, the learning activity both the respondents often utilized is for researching. The extent of utilization in terms of participation, students often used cell phone in answering assignments and doing projects. While teachers often utilized cell phone in terms of participation is for viewing pictures and listening to sounds which are related to the topic. The extent of utilization of cellphone in terms of behavior, students are often motivated to complete school task and easily recognize information. While based on teachers' observation, students are more interested if they incorporate cell phone in the activity. According to the students, they sometimes experience challengers in utilizing cell phone. In contrary to that, teachers observed that students often experience challenges when utilizing cell phone. The accepted learning activities to be included in the learning exemplar are; answering online activities, social interaction, taking of pictures/videos, voice recording and viewing audio/visual presentation. The researcher made lesson plans that she incorporates learning activities which utilize cell phone.
