Abstract
This study aimed to determine effectiveness of strategies of the coping teachers in dealing with nonreaders in English at Caloocan Central Elementary School in Pobcaran District, Division of

Caloocan City.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of teacher respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age;

1.2 Gender,

1.3 Civil status,

1.4 Highest educational attainment, and

1.5 Present position?

2. How effective are the coping strategies used by the teacher

respondents in dealing with nonreaders in English in the following

areas:

2.1 Phonetic approach;

2.2 Dolch sight words,

2.3 Phrases,

2.4 Sentences, and

2.5 Paragraph?

3. Are there significant differences among the coping strategies of

teachers in dealing with nonreaders in English?

4. What are the problems encountered by the teacher respondents in

dealing with nonreaders in English?

5. What intervention maybe proposed by teacher respondents to improve nonreaders in English?
