Abstract
Reading comprehension determines the pupils performance in reading Thus, assessing the pupils' performance may improve their reading comprehension if the teacher spent more time in teaching the pupils in reading and identify what they have learned and take important details In this strategy, it helped them internalized what they have learned. They have more time reviewing unclear concepts This study was focused on Identifying the level of reading comprehension of pupils in Grade I

The researcher used questionnaires to gather the data needed The respondents were 30 pupils in public elementary schools in Caloocan North during the school year 2017-2018 Weighted mean was used to determine the level of comprehension

of the pupils. And T-test was employed to determine the relationship between the level of reading comprehension and reading intervention of these two modes of instructional delivery.

Findings of the study showed that almost all pupils in Caloocan North were not trained on reading comprehension. It was revealed that there are many factors affecting the child performance in reading. The performance of the pupils based on the teacher-respondent assessment in terms of different levels of reading comprehension showed the interpretation which were all satisfactory. Using t-test score it was found out that there was no significant relationship between the level of reading comprehension and reading intervention because base from the finding or the decision they all rejected. On the other hand, there were suggested intervention activities and most materials that the teacher recommended were teachers-made material because some teachers believed that teaching reading comprehension and using instructional material must be based on the capacity and ability of the pupils. Hence, in this study different levels of comprehension was evaluated-

To further improve the performance of pupils recommended intervention was presented by the researcher This ideal reading intervention for comprehension was called the Remedial English Program for Non Readers (REPNOR) among others.
