Abstract
This study was undertaken to probe on the influence of organizational culture on the organizational and job commitment of the public elementary school educators in the Division of Caloocan

City, during the school year 2000-2001.

Specifically, it sought answers to the following:

1. What is the prevailing organizational culture in the public elementary schools in the Division of Caloocan City, as perceived by the teachers and their administrators? 2. Is there a significant concordance on the perception of the prevailing organizational culture by the two groups of public elementary school educators?

3. What factors affect the public elementary school educators perception of the prevailing organizational culture?

4. What is the level of commitment of the public elementary school teachers and administrators, as assessed by themselves, in terms of the following dimensions:

4.1 commitment to the organization, and

4.2 commitment to their job?

5. How significant is the difference in the levels of commitment of the two groups of public elementary school educators in relation to the aforementioned dimensions?

6. What factors affect the assessment of the respondents

commitment to the following:

6.1 the organization, and

6.2 the job?

7. How significant is the relationship between the perceived organizational culture in the public elementary schools in the Division of Caloocan City and each of the following variables:

7.1 commitment to the organization; and

7.2 commitment to their job?

To realize the principal objectives of this study, the writer employed the descriptive method of research, with documentary analysis. Two groups of respondents were involved in this study namely: elementary school administrators and grade school teachers. The sample frame for this research was constituted by fifty (50) elementary school administrators drawn through purposive sampling, and five hundred (500) teachers who were selected

following the simple random sampling strategy. Data for this study were collected with the use of the

following data-collection tools: Personal Data Sheet (PDS), to the gathering of information relating to selected personal variables of the respondents; Schneider's Organizational Culture Assessment Inventory (QCAI), a standardized questionnaire for identifying the prevailing culture in an organization; and the Faculty Commitment Scale (FCS), a researcher-made and a validated questionnaire for gauging the level of commitment of a teacher to the organization and to his job as an educator.

To ensure objectivity in data presentation, analysis, and interpretation, the researcher applied the following descriptive and inferential statistical tests and measures: frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, Spearman rho, t-test for testing the significance of obtained rho, one-way analysis of variance or F test, and Chi-Square test of independence (X²).
