Abstract
One of the important tools in transforming values among the pupils/students is through mass media. The radio, television, moving pictures, magazines and newspapers have become very important information machinery to the schools and home of children. They are among the most important and influential tools in transforming values among the students. They could also be potent source of educational activities. They could pave the way in broadening the knowledge of the students into something right and worthwhile. Thus, mass media is truly relevant in transforming values and in educating the youth to become better citizens of the country.
Nuguid (08:59) had stressed in his article that mass media have either negative or positive influence depending on the perceptions of the individuals using them. They could be the best source of information, or the number one cause of misinformation. They could inspire people to move into action, but could also cause depression.
In one way or the other, mass media may also serve as potential source that could destroy/ruin the image, integrity and the total personality of the students. Televisions, radios, newspapers, magazines, computers, and other forms of media, often times have been branded as the sources of juvenile deliquency, and deterioration of values, where youth become potential criminals and cause ills to the society.
Nevertheless, these are just only a mere speculations depending upon the level/kind of perceptions that the students has. In one way or the other, mass media may also serve as potential source that will destroy.run the image, integrity and the total personality of the student.
